Meat and Potatoes

I can't seem to get the homespun aroma of beef roast out of my house today. It smells so good when you walk in the door hungry after a long day or in today's case following church, but when my hair and clothes still reek of onions at 7pm, I am kind of over it. With every turn of my nose I am reminded of today's lunch, which I am extremely thankful for. I am reminded of all the meals prepared for me by my mother's loving hands as a child--the lunches packed with Little Debbie snack cakes, and the casseroles for supper. The highlight of the week being the meat and potatoes Sunday dinner.

Why am I blogging about food? I'm not quite sure, maybe because I'm pregnant, maybe because so many family memories are made around the dinner table or perhaps I am curious how many people out there still take up the tradition of Sunday Dinner?

Really how can I get this smell to leave the building? I don't think my kids want to goto school tomorrow smelling like meat.

Actually, beef roast has the distict odor of B.O. Thus, your family will smell like you forgot to shower after running a marathon.

We actually had meat and potatoes today too! Has been a while. Tasted mighty good too, if I must say so myself. Johnny wasn't hungry, but ate 3 platefuls anyway!
You should know better than to put yucky onions in with the meat! Just kidding, but I don't know how to rid the smell. Candles maybe?
I'm getting hungry, better go to bed before I eat something.

Good Ole' Meat and Potatoes. Tom and I opted for girlled ham and cheese with pepperoni for "dinner" and nacho's for dinner. All in all, quite healthy. LOL.....
As for the smell....well....I'd go with triplet mom's response....and then shower multiple times :) LOL

Sunday Noon is the time to get rid of the leftovers from the week before. I don't think I have ever cooked a Sunday noon dinner if nobody wasn't coming over.

As far as the smell I had to crack open the window last night to get rid of the smell of frying oil - I tried making donuts, they're ok, but will have to looking for a new recipe. You always try the fresh air method too. The house didn't smell this morning but a tad bit chilly.

Mmmm stinky beef. I thought you were a bit smelly when you walked past me after church.

Danno still smelled at church at night. I could smell him from 8 rows back!

I had roast, too. Must have been that kind of day.

No onions, though, so not as smelly.

I had roast as well...i crack windows.

We are probably good for 2 sundays a month, on average for the family dinner...normally a meat and potatoes assembly. But i cant put in the good things like onions...I have massively picky men in the family. Ashlyn likes the good stuff though.

We grew up on beef roast for Sunday dinner. When Grandma Hopkins, Aunt Jan and I would walk into choir practice at 2:00 PM Sunday afternoon, the guys in the Bass section always commented about the good smelling beef roast. Not exactly what you want males to notice when you are a teenager!
But it is still good to eat!!!

Is it P-O-T-A-T-O-S or P-O-T-A-T-O-E-S?

Tip for the day - Try a crockpot in the garage :) Garages and outside decks are great for deep-frying, for frying bacon, etc. Works great, especially when it's Uncle Bill out there doing the cooking!

Let's see ,how many days ago did you post this? Anyway, glad to hear you appreciated Sun dinners, Chelle. It's still one of the easiest things to throw in the oven and yes, I still have some sort of dinner on Sun even when it's just me and the Fig. Old habits die hard. Love ya
