my first car.

Recently my brother-in-law finished up what seemed to be a pretty grueling Driver's Education program. Numerous sessions, hours of practice that require parental supervision.

Come on, my driver's training was 2 weeks at Sears Driving school. Mr. C, anyone?

Anyway, I realized with my last birthday that I have been driving half of my life, and it's been 16 years since dear old Dad bought me my first car for a sweet $700.

here's a hint

Is it me or do the "first cars" of today's teens seem so much better then what we drove ? Where are the gigantic winter beaters with rear wheel drive and bald tires?

Can I get a shout out for the
Escorts?
Station Wagons?
Buicks?
Tempos?
Chevettes?
LeBarons?
Nova?
Cavaliers?

Mr. C was SWEET! The C stood for FAT! "Pull in there so I can get something to eat" Only the losers took it at the Public HS. (Or kids without summer jobs)

That Chevy commercial is cool too. Good work, did it take you all day to find that?

Too funny!!! I'll shout out to the Buick!

My first car was so crap-ola, that the driver's side door didn't even open...I had to either "Dukes of Hazard" it or climb out the passenger door.

I cant even look at a buick without cringing!!!! Especially if it's white! PUKE!

My drivers training consisted of going around the block. Twice.

No reverse, no parallel parking, not even pulling into a parking space as a matter of fact. No wonder I had four accidents before I graduated high school.

And I will give a shout out to the Red Escort which was my first car, and the Lebaron convertible that would be my second.

Ah the Cavalier! It looked so much cooler back in the day when you were driving it. Maybe because I was still riding a bike!

Iwill never forget Mr.Cs demo on a 5 mile an hour crash into a wall!! The guy just about went through the wall!! The best part was when Van Ek and I were taking our driving test Mr.C made us pull into this polish dog place to get something to eat and Van Ek turned out in front of someone and the polish dog went everywhere!

I shout out to the Buick Regal and the Cutlass Supreme!

I still think that I got screwed....I was forced to work many summers to save up for my car and then when it came down to it, my parents got to pick it out while I paid for it. I was pretty styling with my T-tops.....in my Cutlass! Oh dear. At least I was "safe" during the MI winters, right ?!?

three posts in two days after going two weeks? Does this mean the next post will be celebrating the new babies 1 month mark?

No shout out to a first car is complete without a concurrent shout out to the music you listened to while driving it. Hence-
Yo there!
Boston
Def Leppard
Garth Brooks
Trisha Yearwood
Michael Bolton
Boys II Men
Firehouse (When I Look Into Your Eyes, in case you've forgotten)
And OH! Remember Sophie B Hawkins?

chelle-

i guess if you post twice in two days then i must respond in even less time. i need to give a shout out to my first car, a 1989 red 4 door pontiac grand am with rust over the wheel fenders. the muffler was held on by a coat hanger! what the flip was that all about? but mine was nothing compared to stacey's! ground effects and leaky gasoline
anyone!??

Do I even dare tell about my first car? A brand new 1972 Chevelle SS, blue with white stripes and white leather interior! Had zero miles on it when we picked it up at Seif and Sons, (way out in Caledonia!) on my 16th birthday. Sure would love to have that car today! Yes, I was spoiled and still am. Listened to alot of Elvis, Chicago, Carly Simon and CCR in that car, on my 8 track player!
