Four Eye Are Better Than Two

We learned recently that Drew would need glasses. The vision in his left eye was surprisingly poor. Dan and I felt pretty bad that we never noticed any signs of this. Drew never indicated to us that he had problems seeing, so when the Dr. said that his left eye was close to "legally blind" I thought Dan was going to cry. (sorry, Hon)
You see, this was Dan at age 6, with his first pair of glasses: Cute, right?

And here is Drew today with his new specs.
Any bets on how long this first pair will last?

At least Dewey's glasses are only 1/2 the size of Danno's!

Oh and with Dewey, my guess is by school they will have been fixed once - if he wears them regularly

Such Cuties.....I say they will last a few months......

WOW! I thought Joy looked like you, but she's a dead ringer for Dan as a yougin'.

They will last until the first day of school and his first time out for recess on the playground. (Paige gets about three pairs a year and they all are beat up. And last time I checked, she is a girl.)

When we heard that Paige needed glasses, I felt like I got sucker punched in the gut. And then I put on my fake smile and said, "oh, that will be so cool to have glasses honey." Even though Daddy and I have never needed them!

Laurie, it was like you read my mind.

Except that I had to put on the fake smile and convince Dan that it would be so cool for Dewey to wear glasses.

My go to line is "That is the way God made him" ;)

I too sported glasses for a few years only in high school. Oh the trama. I would carry them in my pocket most of the time and only put them on when necessary in class to see the board. Then the miracle of contacs freed me. I can only imagine the advances Dewey will enjoy as he gets older, if he doesn't grow out of even needing them at all.

It's great when they walk in the door and one lense is out and missing, and the frames are so bent that they sit so crooked on their face that they have to tilt their head to the side in order to see. And....they don't even notice that something is wrong.
He'll do great..in a few weeks you will think he looks odd without them.

Are they broken yet? A boy, in the summer - I'd give it a week. : ) He looks so cute in them!

They've come a long way!! Danny still looked cute, even if the glasses cover his whole face, and of course, Drew is adorable! Love ya! Aunt Marva

Dewey is so cute with them on - I have to say I remember dan in those glasses - Crack me up!! Could they have been any bigger. Any I can not say much I had them too - not that young though. My first pair were big and bright pink - how cool!! They funny thing is I thought it would be cool to wear glasses so I tried to fake the eye exam - they always seemed to catch me.
