Well, I'm fresh out of ideas.

Our home is over 5 years old and I think it looks 10 years old. Dinged up baseboards, chunks out of walls, and our furniture has seen much better days. As much as I try to be a good housekeeper, my children seem to instinctively destroy everything they touch. Mother says to wait until the kids are older and then do some fixin' up, but I have the itch to paint, rip out something, or buy a king size bed.

Obstacle#1--not a lot of extra dough right now.
Obstacle # 2--not a lot of extra energy right now.
Obstacle #3--not a lot of extra time right now.

Really, will these things ever change? I'm looking for some advice or color ideas and maybe someone who likes to paint...just for the fun of it (free). I used to get Stacey to do this type of home improvement with (or for) me, but she is otherwise occupied.

Instinctually - Adj - (Instinctively)- the inherent disposition of a living organism toward a particular behavior.

My house is only 2 years old and it loks like it is 5 years old. We have dings and dents all over the walls and not to mention that we have had the carpet in the living room patched twice because the dogs were hungry. The carpet looks like it is 10 years old and I have given up on trying to get the stains out. I am ready to change some of the paint colors in my house also. My problem is the 2 year itch, we have not stayed in one house for more than 2 years. Help!!!!

instinctively. I don't know what you are talking about. Cheese head.

Chelle, I just want to know where you came up with that one!

And Kristy, dogs will do that to a house/carpet. My opinion is if God wanted dogs to live indoors he'd have given them the ability and know-how to build their own.

Ha!

Our house is about 11 yrs old, and after 4 kids, 3 indoor dogs and me, our house is more like 20 years old. We are super hard on things which doesnt help. (I should also mention the previous owners had 4 kids, 2 large dogs, 3 cats and apparently some off the hook parties)

Wood floors---scratched to heck.
creamy carpet---more like a suntan color with colorful splotches.
white trim---scuffed and nicked.
1 year old white coffee table from Pottery Barn---scuffed up and some spots with chipped paint.

I could go on...It's sickening. I figure I'll re-do it all when Austin's in school full time.

Forget about fixing up the house, just build a new barn. My "barn room" has saved me may problems. We fixed up the basement and it never gets used, Go FIG-ure. (I love that one R-Cow)

I've got the itch too Chelle - to redo our kitchen . . . We've only been here 7 years, but I feel like we've grown up a bit since we built. My tastes are a bit more sophisticated now . . . too bad sophistication costs more!

Chelle, I thought your house looked really nice...except for that black electrical outlet.

The exploding paint can sounds like something we'd try at the pharmacy. Has anyone tried the mint mentos in diet coke yet?

I saw the mentos and Diet Coke this summer at Payne Lake, down at the Blouws. Yes it does work. It's about a $1.50 for 7 seconds of enjoyment.
