On this day in 1997

Two young, naive, country kids tied the knot.

I remember waking up with a cold sore on my chin and 2 monster zits on my chest. Believe it or not that didn't get me down, for it was my wedding day! We stood before family and friends and pledged ourselves to constant faithfulness and abiding love.

I moved from my parents house to my new married home. Suddenly there was laundry, groceries, and toilets to clean. What delight I took in these tasks initially, but the novelty wore off.

Soon came our first car and full time jobs to pay the bills. It was an exciting time of learning my profession, but the novelty wore off.

Next up was pregnancies, births and becoming a family. Someone I know once said, "Isn't this the best of life--right now?" I agree. We are smack dab in the middle of a balancing act between childrearing, work, home, school and church responsibilities. I can honestly say that even as we reach this 10 year milestone the novelty of family life has not worn off.
I love you, Dan! Thank you for giving me the life I dreamed of as a little girl. God is good, it He that has brought us here.
Happy Anniversary!

You know you must be losing it when "the novelty of family life has not worn off"

You know, we are only about 1-1/2 years behind you but you are SOOOOOOO much older w/ your old kids and all! HA!

Yes, Happy Anniversary. I was thinking of you today! I'll be sure to give my husband a kiss in honor of our first kiss. Nice that we can share our birthday, names and a special event on the 23rd of May.

Happy Anniversary, but New York City? I could not be more proud of the two of you. (coming from me that is a great honor). I think on our 10th anniversary I wanted to go out the cottage, how special! I will now apologize in advance for what I teach your kids while you are gone. I don't know yet what it will be, but I am sure it will "not be right".

The big TEN. Congrats. (By the way, we went to Birch Run for ours last year ... a close second to New York.)

chelle,
i just have to say that your blog is way fun. your life seems to be quite exciting and you have some pretty interesting quips and insights. i always check out stacey's to get updates on the girls but had never looked at yours before today. i read all of your posts since you started it in one sitting! i either have no life or the boss was gone and we didn't want to do any work! keep up the good work!

i forgot to say happy belated anniversary too. i went to your wedding with heather dykema (holy blast from the past! ask stacey if she remembers) and we thought it was so cool. i think you were the first person who was sort of my age who got married and i couldn't wait to get married. i thought stacey's bridesmaids dress was the prettiest thing ever! 10 years later, not so sure about that. anyway, congrats!
